En lo que respecta a los grupos de edad, son precisamente los más jóvenes los que reflejan su menor peso en el conjunto de la población gallega, al bajar desde los 18 a los 29 años, tanto en lo que se refiere a hombres como a mujeres residentes en alguna de las cuatro provincias. Es el grupo de 20 a 24 el que mayor retroceso consigna al superar el 19% en total, y solo los tramos de edad de 54 a 59 y de 70 a 74 presentan también números rojos, aunque el de 64 a 69 años baja, pero solo en el caso de las mujeres.
Por el contrario, y como señal inequívoca del envejecimiento de la población gallega, el grupo de los mayores de 85 años es el que más crece, al subir un 15,30% respecto a la convocatoria de hace cuatro años. En el caso de los electores varones este grupo de edad roza incluso el 20% de incremento respecto a hace solo cuatro años, alcanzando casi los 29.000 integrantes.
La radiografía de la nueva bolsa de electores gallegos se completa con un descenso del 0,14% en el número de mujeres y un aumento del 0,13% en el caso de los hombres que residen en la comunidad.
